Awesome reporting! And there's the additional context of Google's December acquisition of Intersect Power - so they're accomplishing this goal of rapid data centers WITHOUT fossil fuel power generation in more than one way!

If I'm Google, I either wait in the LLI queue for years and then am exposed to market prices to serve load, or go BTM at VRE generation with faster speed to power and (presumably) a lower effective cost of power assuming a BTM offtake structure with the wind + solar gen...

Grid ends up seeing neither the generation nor most of the load, though the grid demands when solar/wind drop will exacerbate the net load challenge as system VREs drops in ~concert. Seems like a safer bet than building a bunch of new gas that will be economically stranded by operating and in flight VREs + BESS unless the upper most of load growth trajectories plays out?
