What's the comparison on bird kills if you pit Wind Trubines vs. Solar and 2nd Gen Nuclear?

A wind farm in Tasmania can detect the presence of an eagle nearby and the turbines close stop. Bird strike risks can be mitigated with wind whereas it is far harder with fossil fuels and climate change to mitigate their risks.

The location of Wind Turbine projects must be carefully assessed. You can’t place 1,000 ft turbines close into our coastline. In Europe they are placed 30+ miles off shore. You must do impact studies before selecting the project location. Which in the case of the new 350 turbine project off Long Beach Island was not done. The pristine coast of LBI will soon look industrialized like the NJ turnpike. This will cause business and restaurant bankruptcies and home devaluations.

Great info, thank you. Depressing to hear that that there are 40 anti-wind groups on FB. Did you put this info to any of them? And if so, how was it received? Was it believed? Did it appear to change anyone's mind, if the belief that wind turbines kill birds was voiced most often?

Thanks for this great example of how to talk about relative risk. We all need to get better at this.
